A Wonderful Afternoon Celebrating Our Volunteers
What better way to thank our wonderful volunteers than with fresh pizza, CPMOW Bingo, prizes, and an afternoon of friendship and fun at the park?
On August 18, Culver Palms Meals on Wheels held its Volunteer Appreciation Picnic at Carlson Park in Culver City. The event was organized by Julie West, our Board Corporate Secretary, who planned a warm and welcoming afternoon for our volunteers, board members, and staff.
One of the highlights was CPMOW Bingo, with Julie calling the game and keeping everyone smiling. The game included questions and information about Culver Palms Meals on Wheels, giving everyone an opportunity to have fun while learning more about our organization. Our board members generously contributed gifts for the Bingo winners.
We also extend a special thank-you to Trader Joe’s on Slauson Avenue in Culver City for donating gift cards and three Italian dinner food bags. Maria, Freddi, and Steve’s wife were the lucky winners of the dinner bags!
Lunch was another highlight of the day. Windsor Hills Pizza prepared fresh-baked pizzas right on site and served them with salad. Our board members completed the picnic meal by bringing desserts, bottled water, and lemonade for everyone to enjoy.
Although the food, games, and prizes made the afternoon especially enjoyable, the true purpose of the gathering was to recognize our dedicated volunteers.
Every week, Culver Palms Meals on Wheels volunteers give generously of their time to help older adults and other homebound neighbors remain nourished, connected, and cared for. Our volunteers deliver much more than meals. For many of our clients, the volunteer arriving at the door may be one of the few people they see that day. A smile, a few kind words, and a caring visit can make a meaningful difference in the life of someone who is living alone or experiencing isolation.
Volunteers also help us notice when a client may need additional assistance. Their dependability, compassion, and personal connection are essential to our mission and allow Culver Palms Meals on Wheels to continue serving our community.
We are grateful to Julie for organizing this special event, to our board members for helping make it possible, and to Trader Joe’s and Windsor Hills Pizza for their generous support.
Most of all, we thank every one of our volunteers. Culver Palms Meals on Wheels is truly volunteer powered, and we could not do this important work without you. We hope everyone who attended enjoyed the afternoon as much as we enjoyed celebrating with you!
